What is play therapy?
Play therapy is a research-based approach that uses play, a child's natural language, to help them process emotions, work through challenges, and build healthy coping skills. Rather than asking children to sit and talk about their feelings, play therapy meets them where they are and gives them a safe, expressive outlet to communicate and heal.

Who do you work with?
I work with children ages 3–16 and their families. My approach is family-centered, which means I work with both the child and their guardian. While your child has space to explore and process in session, you'll receive coaching and strategies to better understand and respond to your child at home.

What kinds of issues do you help with?
I work with children and families navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, ADHD, emotion regulation difficulties, and changing family dynamics such as divorce, blended families, or a new sibling. If you're not sure whether your child's needs are a fit, reach out — I'm happy to talk it through.

Do parents participate in sessions?
Yes, and it's an important part of the process. Therapy works best when the whole family system is involved. Guardians receive coaching techniques to better manage their responses and support their child's growth between sessions. Meaningful change happens at home too.

Do you offer in-person and virtual sessions?
Yes — I offer both in-person and virtual sessions to fit your family's needs and schedule.

Why is it important to work with a therapist who shares my child's background?
Research shows that cultural empathy plays a significant role in the therapeutic relationship. As a Black woman, I understand the unique experiences that children and families of color navigate. Black women represent roughly 5% of mental health practitioners, which means many families of color have limited access to therapists who truly see and reflect their experience. That representation matters, and it's something I'm proud to offer.

What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is all about getting comfortable. We'll take time to get to know each other, talk through your goals and concerns, and let your child begin to explore the space at their own pace. There's no pressure — we go at your family's speed.
